Will Smith: Growth Beyond Comfort Zones
Will Smith has spent the last two years travelling from the South Pole to the North Pole, and the experience was apparently as terrifying as it sounds.
Speaking at the 1 Billion Followers Summit in Dubai, the actor opened up about his upcoming National Geographic and Disney+ series Pole to Pole with Will Smith, which documents his 100-day journey through some of the planet’s most extreme environments. You can expect him skiing across polar ice, scuba diving under frozen Arctic seas, and trekking through jungles and deserts.
When poison becomes medicine
One of the wildest moments from his documentary was: Extracting venom from a rare spider in the Amazon. Smith joined scientists to show how something dangerous can actually become life-saving medicine when studied properly. It’s a metaphor that runs throughout the series: confronting what scares us can lead to unexpected breakthroughs.
“From your darkest difficulty, right in the centre of the pain, is where the cure lives,” he told the audience.
Answers at the edges
The journey wasn’t just about adrenaline or ticking off extreme locations. Smith met Indigenous hunters in the Kalahari, elders in the Amazon, and island communities dealing with rising seas. These encounters shaped his view that solutions to global problems often come from the margins, not the centre. “The solution to many of Earth’s problems is there at the edges,” he said.
It’s a perspective that challenges the usual approach of looking to major cities or research institutions for answers. Instead, the series highlights the knowledge and resilience of communities living on the frontlines of climate change and environmental challenges.
Confronting fear head-on
He also got honest about fear. Whether it was spiders, extreme cold, or diving beneath ice, the trip forced him to face what terrified him. “If you are scared, you cannot really enjoy this world. Fear is the greatest enemy of our wildest dreams,” he explained. The actor described learning to manage his mind during moments of absolute panic, treating fear not as a reason to stop but as a threshold worth crossing.
The seven-episode series, filmed over two years, premieres on 14 January. Smith described it as both beautiful and terrifying, calling it “heart-warming” and suitable for family viewing despite the extreme nature of the expedition.
It’s less about spectacle and more about what happens when you push past comfort, listen to people living at the edges of the world, and find meaning in the uncomfortable bits. The kind of journey that changes how you see the planet and your place in it.

Beckhams set condition to reconnect with son Brooklyn
David and Victoria Beckham are believed to be ‘raging’ over Brooklyn’s sensational accusations and ‘will only speak to him again if he splits from wife Nicola Peltz‘.
In an extraordinary statement shared to his Instagram Stories on Monday, Brooklyn, 26, share a six-page statement, where he said he has no wish to reconcile with his family and is standing up for himself ‘for the first time in my life’, claiming his parents have ‘controlled narratives about our family’.
He also made a series of bombshell allegations about his 2022 Florida wedding, including claims that his mother Victoria, 51, dramatically hijacked what was meant to be his romantic first dance with Nicola.
Brooklyn claimed the incident left him feeling ‘more uncomfortable and humiliated than ever in his life’, accusing his mother of dancing ‘inappropriately’ on him in a way he found deeply embarrassing.
Victoria is said to have been left ‘devastated’ after taking the brunt in the vicious family fallout with son Brooklyn and Nicola – as the internet continues to explode with memes, jokes and speculation over what Victoria’s dancing would have entailed.
And in a new twist, sources claim David and Victoria won’t be giving Brooklyn the time of day ‘if he is still with Nicola’.
Despite everything that’s happened, David and Victoria still love their son. He will always be their boy, and there will always be a place for him in their home.
‘They have tried everything in their power to mend their relationship with him and it hasn’t worked. Now it feels like there is no going back while he is still with Nicola’, according to The Sun.
Victoria’s parents Jackie and Tony, as well as David’s Sandra and Ted, are also said to feel heartbroken by Brooklyn’s actions.
The source continued: ‘The grandparents are once again so upset. They feel powerless and don’t know what to do.
‘They love Brooklyn but of course love their own children dearly and see the pain etched on their faces.’
Daily Mail has contacted the Beckham’s and Peltz’s for comment.
The Spice Girls star’s estranged child took to Instagram to denounce his relationship with his ‘performative’ parents and reveal that his mum ‘hijacked his first dance’ and said: ‘I have never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.’
While the newlyweds planned a very romantic performance, Victoria reportedly chose to dance ‘very inappropriately on her son’ in front of their 500 guests.
He penned: ‘My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song.
‘In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead’.
He continued: ‘She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment’.
Brooklyn and Nicola wed in April 2022 in a lavish £3.5M wedding at the Peltz family estate in Palm Beach, Florida.
They then renewed their wedding vows in August 2025 with Brooklyn’s parents and siblings not invited to the ceremony in New York’s Westchester County.
A wedding guest has also backed up Brooklyn’s claims that Victoria danced ‘inappropriately’ with him at his wedding.
Wedding guest Stavros Agapiou has now spoken out, insisting that they witnessed Victoria’s ‘inappropriate’ dancing.
Agapiou is the partner of British DJ Fat Tony, who was asked to perform at the reception. In an Instagram comment, they wrote: ‘I was there and she did, he’s telling the truth.’
The comment has since been deleted and Stavros instead posted ‘Good on him for finally speaking out!’
Nicola and Brooklyn’s April 2022 wedding was covered by US Vogue, which went into lavish detail about how the wedding party followed American traditions of a mother and son and father and daughter dance.
Vogue say the newlyweds’ first dance was to South African singer Lloyiso’s rendition of Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love.
The publication then states that Marc Anthony, a close friend of David and Victoria, took to the stage much later into the reception at 11pm to perform his track I Need To Know.
It was at this point ‘Brooklyn invited his mother on stage for a dance and they were joined by David and their 10-year-old daughter, Harper.’
The claim that Brooklyn ‘invited’ his mother to dance is in direct contrast to his statement that ‘Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead.’
Meanwhile, in the wake of the statement, a throwback tweet from Victoria, with images showing her dancing with David with the caption: ‘Never met a dance floor I didn’t like’ resurfaced.
Despite proudly declaring he was a once a ‘mama’s boy’, Brooklyn focused mainly on Victoria in his lengthy statement, with his vitriolic comments leaving her ‘on the floor in pieces’.
While recollections seem to vary on what exactly happened on his wedding day, Brooklyn also made a point of claiming that his parents ‘attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children.’
Daily Mail revealed that it’s Victoria who solely owns the trademark to Brooklyn Beckham’s name – which is set to expire this year.
Documents lodged with the UK’s Intellectual Property Office show that in December 2016, Victoria took out the trademark in her son’s name, but when that expires in December of this year Brooklyn will be free to renew using his own legal team.
The trademark covers classes of goods including cosmetics and aftershaves, clothes, shoes, sportswear, hats, toys, TV shows and music.
Posh also took out trademarks in the names of her three other children.
In his statement, Brooklyn claimed: ‘They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because when the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.’
A source added to Page Six: ‘Before Brooklyn and Nicola were married, Victoria called Brooklyn and said, “Daddy has a very big deal, you need to sign this contract.”‘
An industry insider, however, said the deal with Authentic Brands Group was tied to David selling a majority stake in his brand management company, DB Ventures, for $269 million in 2022, and meant nothing negative for Brooklyn.
‘The agreement that Brooklyn was asked to sign was to protect his rights because his parents have commercial partners who have some rights over the Beckham name, and so it ensures that the kids are carved out of that, of course,’ said a Beckham insider at the time.
‘It’s entirely standard and is to protect the family. Brooklyn chose not to sign the agreement, but it makes no difference, as of course no one would ever restrict his rights.
‘Sadly, by then, Brooklyn had gotten rid of all his own advisers and was only listening to the Peltz lawyers who perhaps either didn’t understand the agreement or were being deliberately obstructive.’
PR agent and Brand expert Mark Borkowski told Daily Mail that Brooklyn’s blistering attack will undoubtedly have had an effect on ‘Brand Beckham’, which was built on ‘unity, warmth and professionalism’.
Mark explained: ‘This will be an existential crisis for the Beckhams. Even before with all the reports of the feud they made sure they were promoting the family by posting about Cruz’s music gig.
‘The problem is the Peltz’s are significant and ruthless businesspeople and they’ll be pretty good at exploiting Brooklyn if he wants to do something.
‘Now they can take an element of his brand and build on it – the same way Prince Harry did using his Windsor label with Meghan Markle.
‘Brooklyn is now in bed with one of the most powerful businessman in New York and America is a much bigger market for him.
‘As for the Peltz family, well they wouldn’t want a rogue Beckham brand flying around that they didn’t have control of. They’re a successful family and they’d be looking at their son-in-law thinking “how can we create something with the Peltz brand”.
‘It’s a horrible family soap opera for the Beckhams and how they recover from this will be an ongoing conversation for sure.’

Speed’s Algeria Visit Sparks Cultural Debate
The recent visit of the global YouTuber IShowSpeed to Algeria sparked widespread debate, especially following the incident that occurred in the stadium. This incident was interpreted in many different ways across media outlets and social platforms. However, an essential point was either ignored or oversimplified.
What happened was not a rejection of Speed as a person, nor hostility toward foreigners. Rather, it was a direct reaction to behavior that the Algerian public considered inappropriate in a public space. His use of explicit body gestures, including touching a private area of his body in front of the audience and cameras, came as a shock to a society that is inherently conservative and deeply respectful of public conduct, particularly in family-oriented and sports environments.
While the reaction itself was unacceptable in its form, it nevertheless reflects a deeply rooted value system within Algerian society, where such public behavior is not tolerated, regardless of the individual’s fame or intentions. This does not indicate backwardness or intolerance, but rather a cultural conservatism that defines a people who still consider public respect a red line.
The real issue here is not cultural difference in itself, but the lack of awareness of it. What may be considered spontaneous or entertaining content in one place can be seen as a clear offense in another. This is where the responsibility of global influencers lies: to respect the cultural context of the countries they visit.
Algeria does not reject openness, nor does it oppose global fame, but it rightfully demands respect. What happened in that moment was an expression albeit in an incorrect way of that demand.
In the end, Speed’s visit revealed an important truth:
Our people are hospitable, yet conservative. Open to the world, yet unwilling to accept the crossing of their boundaries.
And this is not a weakness… it is identity.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Has a New Home
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have transferred their Parents Network project to the nonprofit ParentsTogether, continuing their mission to protect children from online harms.
After previously announcing a partnership between Parents Network and ParentsTogether in October 2025, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Foundation granted ParentsTogether the full operational capacity and structure of the network, systems and processes, brand and creative assets. Archewell also gave a cash grant to cover the first year of core operations, with additional funding from Archewell supporters ring-fenced to fund the expansion and transition.
PEOPLE understands that Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, are expected to remain involved with the Parents Network in some capacity, though no formal decisions about their ongoing role have been finalized.
An Archewell source tells PEOPLE that the move follows an established model where we incubate initiatives before transitioning them to independent, sustainable organizations — much like the Invictus Games and Travalyst.
“ParentsTogether has built trusted relationships with many of these families over years, and their expertise makes them the ideal permanent home for The Parents Network,” the source says.
The insider adds, “We couldn’t be more excited to see these families supported and amplified in such capable hands.”
The move follows Meghan and Harry renaming the Archewell Foundation as Archewell Philanthropies, as the organization marks its fifth anniversary. Under the new structure, Archewell is adopting a fiscal sponsorship model that keeps it within a nonprofit framework while allowing greater flexibility to expand its global philanthropic work.
Amid the restructuring, a spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed staff cuts at Archewell were “inevitable.”
The Parents’ Network began in 2022 as a community of families in the U.S. who lost a child to social media-driven suicide or whose children have struggled because of online platforms.
In a CBS Sunday Morning segment that aired in August 2024, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sat down with Jane Pauley to discuss the program’s wider launch, drawing on their own experiences with online harassment and as parents of son Prince Archie, now 6, and daughter Princess Lilibet, now 4.
Meghan said, “Our kids are young — they’re 3 and 5. They’re amazing. But all you want to do as parents is protect them. So as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done there, and we’re just happy to be able to be a part of change for good.”
Added Prince Harry, “At this point, we’ve got to the stage where almost every parent needs to be a first responder. And even the best first responders in the world wouldn’t be able to tell the signs of possible suicide. That is the terrifying piece of this.”
In April 2025, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex helped unveil The Lost Screen Memorial, an installation in New York City comprised of 50 smartphones, each displaying the lock screen photo of a child whose life was cut short due to the harmful effects of social media. The personal images were shared by parents and members of the Parents’ Network, in hopes of calling attention to the need for safer digital spaces.
